Diesel exhaust emissions are made up of particulates and gaseous pollutants which have been labeled by numerous governmental agencies as known or suspected carcinogens. Below is a partial list of chemical compounds found in diesel exhaust and soot. For a complete list visit The U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) website: www.osha.gov

Below is a list of Chemicals found in exhaust emissions and how

Dangerous Gases Monitored
Exhaustomatic was the first to offer the monitoring of carbon monoxide gases in the firehouse. It became such a popular option that we quickly made it a standard feature of all of our systems. Our systems come with a digital display that gives you a reading every 150 seconds. As an added feature, we have found that the digital display acts as a training tool for those firefighters who are slow to accept a new piece of equipment in the firehouse. If the firefighter does not attach our system, then the monitor will since "CO" in the bay and sound an alarm at 35ppm. When the firefighter goes to the panel to turn off the alarm, he sees the digital display registering the current level of carbon monoxide above 35ppm and it reinforces the fact that it is much safer for him to use the new vehicle exhaust removal equipment.
